Elections are in full swing in Badair Union ahead of the sixth phase of Union Parishad elections in Brahmanbaria Kasba Upazila. The election campaign of the chairman candidates is in full swing around the election. Talks with the candidates are going on in the tea shop every day from morning till late night. There is no end to the interest among the voters in the selection of qualified candidates.
According to Kasba Election Office sources, 5 candidates are contesting for the post of chairman in Badair Union, 10 candidates are contesting for the reserved women's seat and 30 candidates are contesting for the post of member in general wardSpeaking to the voters of Badair Union, it has been learned that Md. Shipon Ahmed Bhuiyan, General Secretary of Badair Union Awami League, is leading the grassroots level in the polling station as the chairman candidate. He has been involved in A-League politics for a long time. At the same time, he has been playing a role in the overall development of the area from the side of ordinary poor, meritorious students and neglected people of the society. His friendship is among the party leaders and workers.
Md. Shipon Ahmed Bhuiyan, the candidate for the chairmanship of Chashma Pratik, said, "I am forming a party following the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu." However, as there is no party symbol in this election, I have participated in the election independently. I am getting wide response from the general public of the union.
He further said that if elected, he would present Badair Union as a model union to the people of the area. And we will turn Badair Union into a drug and terror free zone.

In 6 unions of Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria, 50 candidates are contesting for the post of chairman, 56 for reserved women's ward and 231 for general ward member.
Voting will be held in 219 UPs in the sixth phase of Union Parishad elections across the country. All the voting will be done through electronic voting machine (EVM). The next election is on January 31
